How do I make a payment to my Bank of America account?
You can make payments online by Direct Debit, by post, at a bank, or via telephone banking as follows:
Pay online:
Access our secured Online Banking service, select the Make Payment tab and follow the instructions. Payments taken before 5pm Monday to Friday will be credited to your credit card account in two working days. Payments made after 5pm or on weekends or bank holidays will be credited to your account in three working days. Payments made after 2:30pm on the last day of each month will take an extra day to be credited to your account. In all cases you will see your payment in Online Banking the day after it is credited to your account.
Note: Whilst we do not set restrictions on the amount you can pay using your debit card on our Online Banking site, your debit card issuer may set a transaction limit.
Pay by Direct Debit:
To set up a Direct Debit on your credit card account access our secured Online Banking service, select the Manage Account tab and follow the online instructions. You can also contact us on 0800 456 1234 to set up your Direct Debit by phone. Your Direct Debit payment will be taken regardless of any additional payments you make. Your Direct Debit payment will be credited on your payment due date and will be collected from your appointed bank on or the next working day after your due date.
Pay by your bank’s Telephone / Internet / Standing Order Banking Service (incorporating Faster Payments)
Please contact your bank to take advantage of this service. You will need:
1. Your credit card number.
2. Our bank account: 70328725
3. Our sort code: 086130.
Please allow up to four working days for Telephone/Internet Banking Payments. Faster Payments received Monday to Friday before 4pm will be credited to your account the same working day; after 4pm, or on a weekend/bank holiday, they will be credited to your account the next working day. Payments can be seen on your account the day after being credited.
Pay by post:
Post your cheque together with the completed bank giro slip (from the bottom of your statement) to:
Card Services
Royal Avenue
Widnes
WA88 1AS
Please make your cheque payable to MBNA EBL and remember to write your card number on the front of all cheques and your name and address on the reverse of each cheque. Be sure to allow up to five working days before your payment due date shown on your statement. This may take longer if you use seconds class post.
Pay at a bank:
Use the bank giro credit slip at the bottom of your statement. A bank other than the Co-operative Bank may charge a fee. Non-MBNA bank giro credit slips will not be accepted. Payment by either cheque and/or cash will take the same time to reach your account. Please allow four working days before the payment due date shown on your statement.
How can I avoid late fees?
As detailed in our terms and conditions for your account, we may charge a fee each time at least the minimum payment has not been credited on to your account by the payment due date. We ask that you send this payment five working days before the due date so that a late charge is not incurred. Information regarding payment methods can be found on the reverse of your monthly statement. You can monitor your payments at any time through our secured Online Banking service.
You can avoid late fees by setting up a Direct Debit which you can do through Online Banking or by ringing us on 0800 456 1234. Please make sure you have sufficient funds in your nominated bank account or you may incur a fee.
What is estimated interest and how can it be reduced or avoided?
Estimated interest is the interest you will be charged on your next statement if you pay the agreed minimum amount and this reaches us on the payment due date. It assumes that you make no transactions, incur no fees and there are no changes in your statement date or interest rate (except for the expiry of a promotional interest rate). It is calculated in accordance with section two of our terms and conditions for your account.
You can reduce the amount of interest incurred by paying more than the minimum monthly payment due. You can avoid interest altogether by paying your balance in full and on time each month. Bear in mind, interest is charged from the day you withdraw cash from an ATM or bank and there is a cash handling fee associated with cash transactions.
What happens if I have forgotten to make my payment?
If you have simply overlooked a payment you can make one now. Access our secured Online Banking service or call us as soon as possible on 0800 783 7556 to make a payment over the phone. If you are over your credit limit make sure your payment covers the overlimit amount, plus any fees and interest (you can find out what your estimated interest will be from your card statement). You may incur fees if you do not maintain your payments and keep your account up to date.
For future peace of mind and to avoid late fees, set up a Direct Debit on your account to pay the minimum payment due. Simply access our secured Online Banking service or contact us on 0800 456 1234 to set your Direct Debit up over the phone.
